As a part of the Poetry Society of Texas, we meet monthly to share poetry, to further our knowledge, and to inspire. We strive to increase literary awareness in our community through public readings and by sponsoring our annual Collin County Poetry Contest with categories for each student grade level and for adults.
We meet on the first Saturday of each month at 1:30 pm, in the Carriage House building of the historic Heard-Craig House in downtown McKinney. Local poets and guests are welcome to recite their poetry.
Our meetings are casual and visitors are always welcome. We usually have a brief business meeting followed by individual sharing of poetry. You may read your own work or a poem from a favorite poet. Each poet usually shares two or three poems, depending on length.
Please see the Poetry Society of Texas website, www.poetrysocietyoftexas.org , for information about the annual PST Summer Conference and about annual contests sponsored by the PST.
